A Deep Time Walk is 4.6km long. It is a guided walk through 4.6 billion years of Earth history. Each kilometre represents one billion years; each meter one million years.
Participants travel back into deep time and, at various stages during the walk, experience the state of the earth at that particular point in the past. They hear the story of how the earth evolved from a swirling mass of dust and particles to the living planet teeming with organisms and plants that we know today.
It is an invitation to view the world differently, encouraging positive action and advocacy for a regenerative Earth.
Deep Time Walk was co-created in 2007 by Dr. Stephan Harding in co-ordination with geologist Sergio Maraschin.were
Chris Champion is a trained Deep Time Walk facilitator.
